Flight Training in Recreational Aircraft
To Fly Recreational Aircraft (Ultralights) in Australia you must have a Pilots Certificate from 'Recreational Aviation Australia Inc.' - the governing body that oversees this category of licensing.
To be able to fly your very own ultralight aircraft, you need to do a minimum of 20 hours flight training with your local Recreational Aviation Australia flying training school.
There are no special skills needed, anyone can fly! As long as you are at least 15 years of age, and have a health standard that meets the requirements necessary to hold a car drivers license, then you qualify to apply for a student license and start your training.
To obtain your pilots certificate in Australia, it involves a minimum of just 20 hours, with a further 10 or so hours of cross country training if you wish to leave the training area of your local airfield. If you already have your GA (General Aviation) license, then all you need is around 5 or so hours conversion training, to bring you up to speed on the differences of these aircraft - its that simple!! And WELL worth it!!!
Flying Recreational Aircraft is the best fun you will have flying 3 axis aircraft - its all about recreational flying - FUN!!
For those who already fly ultralights - they know what I'm talking about! Why not give it a go!
